I installed the Intrepid Beta from CD replacing an installation of Hardy
that was working somewhat. On Hardy I had to manually install and
modprobe the Intel network driver for e1000e, also the video was not
100%, but I didn't have boot issues.
The Intrepid installation completed without errors, but now the system
fails to boot.
It briefy shows a text prompt "Intrepid login:..." or something similar.
Then it switches to graphics mode and a few seconds later hangs with
this error dialog:

Ubuntu running in low-graphics mode. You may need to upgrade your configuration
to solve this.
(EE) GARTInit: Unable to open /dev/agpgart (no such file or directory)
(EE) [drm] drmOpen failed
(EE) intel (0): [drm] DRIScreenInit failed. Disabling DRI.
(EE) intel (0): Couldn't allocate video memory
"
At this point the system is unresponsive, cursor doesn't move, keyboard
is dead. Have to push the reset button.
