Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: b43-fwcutter

I first apologize if this bug is filed incorrectly. I am filing it after
several hours of troubleshooting and searching. I am also new to bug
reporting, so please forgive me for a lack of etiquette.

I recently installed the beta of Ubuntu Intrepid. Everything seemed to
work OK, and when I installed b43-fwcutter, my blue wireless light came
on, and everything seemed good, but I could not find any wireless
networks. I entered one manually, and it would not connect. I tried
several fixes, none of which worked. I plugged in my D-Link USB wireless
card, and installed the Windows driver with NDISWrapper, and it worked
fine. Thus, I conclude that my problem is not Network Manager. This
wireless card has been working perfectly for quite a while now under
Ubuntu Hardy Heron, using the bcm43xx wireless driver. When I attempted
to unload the driver, I realized that the card is now being used under
the b43 driver. My exact card is as follows:

06:02.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One
54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02)

The card IS recognized, it just doesn't see any wireless networks. Even
with my D-Link plugged in, and showing a nearly full signal to my
network, wlan0 (Broadcom), shows the network name with an empty bar, and
as a "Connect to Other Network" option. (This fails)

Again, this card works perfectly under bcm43xx. If you would like me to
run some commands to provide you with more information, please let me
know.

Currently, my exact package is of version 1:011-4ubuntu1
