** Description changed:
Binary package hint: xorg
Configuration:
PowerMac G4 MDD Dual 1GHz, 1GB RAM, ATI Radeon 9000 Pro (RV250) w/DVI and ADC
Dapper Drake 6.06 LTS:
Live CD boots with default (no) options, but has some video issues:
- Limited range of resolutions between 640x480 and 1024x768
- Low bit depth
- this can be temporarily fixed by switching resolutions
Installed System and all updates:
- Limited range of resolutions between 640x480 and 1024x768
- Fixed by editing xorg.conf
- Low bit depth when using DVI (this problem is not present when using
DVI-to-VGA adapter)
- this can be temporarily fixed by switching resolutions, but problem
reverts with Log Out
Feisty Fawn 7.04 LTS:
Live CD requires ‘live video=ofonly’ option when using DVI.
- Provides full range of resolutions
- Low bit depth
- this can be temporarily fixed by switching resolutions
Installed System with all updates:
- Low bit depth when using DVI (this problem is not present when using
DVI-to-VGA adapter)
- this can be temporarily fixed by switching resolutions, but problem
reverts with Log Out
If the System is upgrade to Gutsy 7.10, the DVI functionality is lost -
must use DVI-to-VGA adapter. The same applies to v.7.10 Live CDs.
-
- Gutsy Gibon 8.04 LTS:
+ Hardy Heron 8.04 LTS:
Live CD usually only works using DVI-to-VGA adapter. It did boot once using
DVI and I was able to successfully run the installer, but with recent attempts,
I am having difficulty getting v.8.04 Ubuntu or Kubuntu CDs to boot at all, but
I’ll cover that in a different bug report.
