Public bug reported:

I have tried the previous alphas on this same hardware, and was able to
use the desktop and do some real testing. However, the Beta on my
Gateway M-6881 laptop does not allow me to get to the desktop. I get no
error message. From a standard start, the screen goes white, then turns
off altogether, with the laptop freezing hard. I cannot drop to a
virtual terminal to get any information. The screen issue led me to try
again with "Safe Graphics Mode". I get the same lock up, but i do get
the "Kubuntu" splash screen as its loading, then freezes.

I cant give you much more information, since I cant get into the system.
But there is a copy of lshw from my Hardy installation to show you all
hardware in the system. I don't know if it is a certain piece of
hardware that is causing the issue, but Hardy works flawlessly. The only
thing I had to do with Hardy is install the compat-wireless project
driver to get my Intel 3945abg wifi to work properly.

Thanks,
-myk
