Same here - whenever I try to view the changelog of an updated package in 
update-manager Xorg crashes.
Further details; the issue appears to be related to nvidia binary drivers. It 
works fine with both vesa and nv drivers, always crashes with nvidia (on a 
GeforceFX5200).

Kernel 2.6.15-25-386, nvidia-glx 1.0.8762+2.6.15.11-2, update-manager 
0.42.2ubuntu22.
Xorg.log reads:

   *** be the reason for the server aborting.
