** Attachment added: "characters that extend below the baseline also overflow
the bottom of the textfield"
   http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18224566/IMG_0664.JPG

** Description changed:

Either the font size, or the vertical alignment on of the text in the
gdm login box is ever so slightly off. As a result the black circles
(and to a lesser extent the text of the username) inside the box as you
- type overlap with the border, which is not aesthetically pleasing.
+ type overlap with the border.
+
+ This may seem like a nitpick, and I'm not really sure if the pictures do
+ it justice, but it is not aesthetically pleasing, and definitely did not
+ do this with the exact same hardware on 8.4
+
+ In any case, I would be nitpicking unless I wanted ubuntu to be the most
+ polished, slick operating system out there.

I have included two pictures. One of the password (where it is most
notable) and another with the username.

  Description: Ubuntu intrepid (development branch)
  Release: 8.10
