Public bug reported:

I got a home network with three computers with Dapper 6.06, fully
updated.

First I installed the fuse-util package with Synaptics at my computer
and it all seemed to go ok. However the 'fusermount' executable did not
get installed. I checked the properties for the list of installed files
and I saw that it was supposed to be under '/usr/lib' after the
installation. I removed and reinstalled the package a number of times
without success.

Now I turned to apt-get and the same thing happened. No
'/usr/bin/fusermount'. I tried the same thing on one of the other
computers without problem. I have probably broken something in the
installation but why did'nt I get an error when the install failed and
why is the package marked as succesfully installed?

I attach some logs from the working and non working install
