I think I've added that to solve a suspend/resume issue. Maybe it's not
necessary anymore

Should I enable it at boot ?

No. I will have to try. I will start with the i8042.debug and re-
enabling the multiplexing.

And as to the kernel question, I am now running kernel:

i686 GNU/Linux
