** Description changed: I was using Ubuntu 8.04 just fine for a while now with Nvidia. I recently updated everything from Ubuntu to 8.04.1 and kept locking up afterwards. I thought maybe something went wrong so I downloaded Ubuntu 8.04.1 DVD and reinstalled everything. That did not help, as I kept having lockups any where from a min to an hour randomly with Compiz Fusion turned on. I want to point out I did not have this problem till I updated Ubuntu. I went to Nvidia Linux Forums and tried some trouble shooting the only way I could get Compiz Fusion to work if I set the maxcpus to 1 for the boot up option. This defeats alot of purposes because my computer runs slower with one core. With deductive reasoning I figured out that it must of been the kernel update doing something to dual-cores. I downloaded the alpha 4 of Ubuntu 8.10 amd this fixed my locking up issues with Compiz Fusion turned on. The kernel version there is 2.6.26.5 However flash has a problem resizing with Compiz Fusion turned on. - I've went back to 8.04.1 but I can not fix my issues as I do not know - how to upgrade or downgrade my kernel. I'm submiting this as a bug in - hopes of it being fixed for 8.10 without flash issues. + I've went back to 8.04.1 but I can not fix my issues as I do not know how to upgrade or downgrade my kernel.
