Public bug reported:

I upgraded from Hardy to Intrepid beta and now rhythmbox won't play
anything. Trying to play a radio station I get "Couldn't start playback.
Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument.

Trying to play music in my library results in crosses appearing next to
all of the songs and rhythmbox rapidly moves through all of them without
playing anything. In a terminal I get this repeated error message:

(rhythmbox:7772): RhythmDB-CRITICAL **: rhythmdb_entry_get_string:
assertion `entry != NULL' failed

Edit: This isn't a rhythmbox issue it's a sound problem. I get this in
totem:

** Message: Error: Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument
pulsesink.c(487): gst_pulsesink_prepare ():
/play/visbin/abin/audiosinkbin/audio-sink/bin6/autoaudiosink1/autoaudiosink1-actual-sink-pulse

And in system - preferences - sound the only playback device that works
is OSS.

** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New

** Summary changed:

- Rhythmbox won't play anything in Intrepid Beta
+ Can't play any sound Intrepid Beta

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: rhythmbox
