Hi again, One extra bit of information: with the Intrepid Ibex Beta 1, either after selecting the "Try out this CD without installing" or the "Install Kubuntu" option, and just before the Kubuntu splash screen appears, there is message shown on the top of the screen. The message reads "ACPI: unable to load the system description tables".
