With today's intrepid upgrade to 2.6.27-6, driver was broken, no wifi available. Reinstallation solved the issue, but I don't think it's normal since the driver is designed to be automatically installed when a new kernel is available ? I reinstalled networkmanager, which does see the wifi AP, but still doesn't connect (WPA, eeepc901). Adam said that eeepc hack may have importance, anybody to confirm and solve the issue on 1.8.0.0 ?
