Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-control-center
Hello folks,
I'm testing Intrepid beta. I did the installation and the first package
update. After the well successful installation, I turned off the desktop
effects by using gnome-appearance-properties to switch from "Normal" to
"None" effects, then I realized that disabling effects also changes the
default Ubuntu sound theme (the awesome drums sound) to the freedesktop
sound theme (default gnome theme, I presume).
Steps to validate the bug:
1. Click on System -> Preferences -> Appearance
2. Go to Visual Effects tab
3. Select option "None"
4. Close the window
5. Restart X Server (Ctrl+Alt+Backspace), you will be back to GDM
6. Proceed with the login as usual, you will hear a different welcome sound
(not the drums sound).
And to turn back the Ubuntu sound theme, do it:
1. Click on System -> Preferences -> Appearance
2. Go to Visual Effects tab
3. Select option "Normal" effect
4. Close the window
5. Restart X Server (Ctrl+Alt+Backspace), you will be back to GDM
6. Proceed with the login as usual and the drums sound from Ubuntu default
theme will be back.
