The built-in UMTS modem (Sierra Wireless MC8780) in my laptop (Fujitsu
Siemens Lifebook P7230) is usually associated with the device files
"/dev/ttyUSB0", "/dev/ttyUSB1" and "/dev/ttyUSB2" of which the last one
is used to actually connect to the Internet (through gnome-ppp).
Sometimes these device files disappear and instead "/dev/ttyUSB3",
"/dev/ttyUSB4" and "/dev/ttyUSB5" appear. When this happens, no
connection can be made unless gnome-ppp is reconfigured to use ttyUSB5
or things are reset with "rmmod sierra" followed by "modprobe sierra".
This bug typically appears after a suspend-to-RAM, but only one time in
15 or so.
