Hi,
thanks for reporting this bug, can you please check if this still an issue with
an updated version of ubuntu intrepid? If so, can you please attach your X
server log file (/var/log/Xorg.0.log) and the backup version
(/var/log/Xorg.0.log.old).
This might be a duplicate of bug 276804
