** Attachment added: "fdisk.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18324790/fdisk.txt
** Description changed: Binary package hint: linux-image-generic Since the update from hardy to intrepid (beta) I can't access my ext3 home partition anymore, which essentially renders the whole system unusable. The partition gets mounted on boot up, but every access fails with a bunch of Buffer I/O errors. According to the dmesg output, the system attempts an "access beyond end of device". This error is also reproducible if I boot up the system with both the Ubuntu 8.10 and Kubuntu 8.10 Live-CDs and mount the partition manually. Again, the mount operation succeeds, but every access throws a bunch of Buffer I/O errors. Some further testing revealed that this error only occurs if I boot up the system with one of the new 2.6.27-x-generic kernels (I tested it with 2.6.27-4-generic, 2.6.27-5-generic, and 2.6.27-6-generic), with the older 2.6.24-19-generic it still works like a charm. Strangely enough the root filesystem, which also happens to be on an ext3 partition, works without problems in all the aforementioned test scenarios.
