Binary package hint: network-manager
Last night, I upgraded from 8.04.1 to 8.10 beta. I had configured a
static IP address in Hardy, but as the release notes suggested using
DHCP, I went to GNOME's Network configuration tool and changed it to
DHCP.
After upgrading to 8.10 beta, the network manager applet reports that
there is no network connection. However, the network still works, as I
was able to ping, and use the Internet (after telling Firefox to work in
online mode).
I examined my /etc/network/interfaces file, and noticed that the file
still configured a static IP address. I removed those lines, and I
believe the line I put in their place is:
iface eth0 auto
(I'm not sure.) The applet still reports no network.
