Removed Compiz with Synaptic. Desktop no longer freezes, however starting Firefox results in message "Could not initialize the applications security components........". Shortly thereafter Firefox disappears.
Any hints on how to remove Compiz but enable applications like Firefox to initialize their security components? Sure would appear to the "ordinary desktop user" that Compiz freezes the Thinkpad. Any way to use Metacity instead?
