Trying the gconftool-2 several times, a couple of times I was able to get nm-applet to work. firefox-3.0.3 initialized however there was this "Could not initialize the applications security component......" error then firefox disappeared. This error repeats every time.
On the installed Beta, I removed Compiz using Synaptic and got the same results. Desktop comes up, nm-applet worked, firefox started then got "Could not initialize the applications security component...." again. I removed only the Compiz entry, not the other nine (at least) compiz entries. Maybe I can try one at a time which is a bit time consuming. Any way to turn "compiz off" and still have Firefox's application security componenet work? I'm entering this from the same install by using xfce4 which I gather does not use compiz, but does use the exact same firefox 3.0.3 which you can see is working and had no error message.
