I am getting this same problem with a Winfast PxDTV2300H i purchased
today.  It is a new model but output's the same

the dmesg returns nothing for a dvb card and there is no /dev/dvb
directory.  i tried the latest v4l-dvb driver set, but still nothing.
As i write this i am upgrading to ubuntu 8.10 to try.  Will keep you
posted
