I have a similar Problem. My System freezes at the same time, but without the Screen distortion. I have a DELL 640m with Intel GMA945 Graphics. When i choose the Rescue Boot, it Freezes after the Line: ACPI: Video Device [VID2] (multi-head: yes rom: no post: no)
