Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kubuntu-live

Whenever I try to boot into the graphical desktop using the Kubuntu Live
CD I get corrupt blocky graphics after X windows starts. This also
corrupts the console terminal in a similar way, so I can't switch to the
console to find out what is going wrong. It doesn't matter whether I use
the normal or safe graphics option.

My graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce 6600 (plain).

I got the same issue with the Dapper live CD using the normal graphics
option, but the safe graphics option worked with Dapper. The Edgy Live
CD checksums are all ok.

I upgraded my installation from Kubuntu Dapper to Edgy over the net
anyway and everything is working fine using the binary Nvidia drivers.
It's as if the Edgy CD still uses the nv driver instead of the vesa
driver with the safe graphics option.

While I have Edgy installed fine, the Live CD is normally useful as a
recovery CD too. Since the issue corrupts the console as well, I can't
use the Live CD at all for this purpose.
