Just to report, the problem still exists, what was the issue on my last test, the rar files where being uncompressed to my NTFS hard disk (where my Windows xp partition is located), but the issue came back, when the uncompressing was performed on the same disk where the ubuntu partition is located...(another hard disk with two ext partitions (one for data and the other the actual ubuntu partition). Just to give more info on the matter. Thanks
