I think this may be the same bug I found:
sudo dpkg -P matchbox-window-manager

Removing matchbox-window-manager ...

I edited /var/lib/dpkg/info/matchbox-window-manager.prerm and added the
needed "#!/bin/sh" as the top line.
apt-cache policy matchbox-window-manager
