I checked, and hardy-updates and hardy-security are uncommented.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ apt-cache show openjdk-6-jdk |grep Version
Version: 6b09-0ubuntu2
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

I removed gb., did apt-get update, and then apt-get upgrade. It still
told me tzdata has been kept back.

So I ran a dist-upgrade and got the following:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade... Done
The following packages will be REMOVED
  openjdk-6-jre-headless openjdk-6-jre-lib tzdata-java
The following packages will be upgraded:
  tzdata
1 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 3 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 0B/659kB of archives.
After this operation, 81.9MB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]? n
Abort.

It really looks like the problem is not solved - moving to the latest
tzdata is still going to uninstall my openjdk.

Let me know if there's more testing I can do.
