Public bug reported:
I'm running Ubuntu 8.04
I have an old bug that I expected to be fixed with updates but it hasn't
so far. Anyway, for the crashes to happen, these programs have to be
running:
-vmware server 1.0.5 build-80187 with 1 running virtual machine on windows xp
-citrix metaframe client
I'm not 100% sure as to when exactly it starts to happen, but I'm preety
sure its related to pressing several keys at the same time, for example
control + c, or control + v. When this bug starts happening, any, and I
mean ANY application I'm running on ubuntu itself crashes with a
keypress, whatever key, it doesn't matter. When it happens, I check the
syslog and there is an error such as this, for whatever application I
was using that crashes (for the record, the virtual machine never gets
the same problem and vmware never crashes):
Oct 13 11:24:47 barbierg02 kernel: [15364.172222] gedit[19060]: segfault
at 00000025 eip b782e275 esp bfbcd9e0 error 4
This is an amazingly annoying bug that is resolved by restarting X. But
in a short period of time it happens again when I start running vmware
and the citrix client application, I do a lot of copy/paste between the
virtual machine, the citrix client and also gedit or thunderbird.
Let me know which logs are required.(latest syslog has been attached)
Thanks.
