Hello. This seems similar to my problem. Mine is a Dell Latitude D620, 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS, 943/940GML and 945GT Express Memory Controller Hub (rev 03) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) 00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
I've been running Ubuntu since Dapper without this problem. It started somewhere during the Intrepid cycle, but quite late. (I've went to Intrepid around the last alpha, but this started happening a good few weeks afterwards. It think it was one of the last three of four kernel versions that did it, since I don't _remember_ it happening with 2.6.27-4, but I might just have forgotten.) I'm not sure how to diagnose it further. The lockup is random (i.e., if I cold reboot the machine a few times it eventually starts up). When it locks up, no keys work (no caps/num-lock, no ctrl-alt-del). I have to press the power button for a few seconds to turn it off, then restart. I have my boot sequence with nosplash and without quiet since forever, so I've no idea if a graphic boot would have the effect in the video above. I can't tell exactly where it happens: the last few lines are always slightly different. It's always during the 'loading drivers' part. Among the messages I've seen on that locked-up screen often enough to remember are some related to the video card, the 3945ABG wireless card, the CDROM (I'm sure it's not its fault because it happened once with the CD drive removed), and a PS/2 device (I think it's the integrated nipple-mouse). Because of the random ordering of messages in the lock-up I suspect that it's something that happens asynchronous with the messages. -- System startup freeze https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/279029 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
