The second way described in the nvnews thread. Made an nvidia file in /etc/modprobe.d/
options nvidia NVreg_DeviceFileUID=0 NVreg_DeviceFileGID=1004 NVreg_DeviceFileMode=0666 Where 1004 is an ID of a group "video". I hadn't got such a group, so I created one and put all users that needed direct rendering to it.
