Public bug reported: WLAN enabled led on Travelmate 3000 is not lit.
The led is also a button to disable WLAN on hardware level. When WLAN is hardware disabled, it does not work. Because nothing indicates that user has accidentally disabled WLAN, reason for problem is not obvious. User often wastes time trying to fix problem by modifying configuration. Because user actually modifies a working configuration, the changes most can break the good configuration. The led is on Travelmate 3000 front, between speakers, near bluetooth enabled led, left of mic and headphones jacks. I have seen the problem on Breezy and Dapper. According to other reports, it also exists in Fedora Core 6. My test device was Acer Travelmate 3000, 3004WTMi. To bypass the bug (I have tested that it works on Dapper): ### /etc/modprobe.d/ipw2200 options ipw2200 led=1 Another bypass, not tested by me: http://myy.helia.fi/~karte/acer_travelmate_3004wtmi_with_linux.html#untested_configuration ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- WLAN enabled led is not lit on Travelmate 3000 https://launchpad.net/bugs/71463 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
