Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help to improve
Ubuntu.
I'm pretty sure that this is the same as bug #277506, fixed in a recent
grub upload, so I'm marking it as a duplicate. If you find that this
problem persists in an upgrade to the current daily versions of Kubuntu
8.10 or with the Kubuntu 8.10 RC, that would indicate this is not the
same bug after all and should be un-duped.
For the KDE frontend issue, there have been bugs in the interactions
between debconf and libqt-perl in the past because debconf doesn't have
a hard dependency on libqt-perl; I don't know if that's what's happening
here, and I don't see any open bug reports about it.
