At the moment there is indeed no default (freedesktop) or Gnome sound
theme. I checked /usr/share/sounds and there is just Ubuntu and
directories left by a few programs that put their own sounds in that
place. The default themes are also not posted in the repositories. Not a
huge ommission, but that does seem a shame given that we now have the
wonderful power of sound themes yet no themes to show for it!
