Maybe some more info from me won't hurt:

sbcl can be built both with sbcl and clisp (2-phase bootstrapping is
done during build). The debian package uses sbcl to rebuild itself.

i386 (tested) and amd64 (untested) should be buildable just with a sync,
since a high enough binary version of sbcl is present in the ubuntu
archives.

For ppc the last ubuntu binary version won't satisfy the build-
dependency of the newer sbcl and the old version of sbcl failed to
rebuild sbcl with itself. Thus, it might be worth a try to rebuild with
the newer version of clisp (as proposed) though I can guarantee no
success (last try failed because clisp was buggy on ppc; I don't have a
ppc to test). That said, I assume, that manual bootstrapping on the
buildd might be easier.

I assume, that sparc will cause the most trouble: sbcl didn't make it
through the debian buildds since 1:0.9.5.50-1. clisp also isn't
available for sparc at all and according to debian #362808 there are
deeper problems for clisp on sparc.

Of course, any help and good advice is highly appreciated ;)

Cheers,
    Stefan.
