Public bug reported:

ACER aspire one with intrepid ibix 8.10 beta with all latest updates

The ath5k driver for the AR 242x chipset appears to be generating
excessive interrupts when idle, this activity is keeping the processor
out of C3 powersave mode and consuming upto a Watt of additional power.

Steps to reproduce

1. install intrepid ibix beta on acer aspire one
2. apt-get install powertop
3. boot machine to desktop, open terminal and run sudo powertop with wireless
unassociated
4. Observe interupt rate of approximately 20 per sec being generated by ath5k
driver
5. Push rfkill switch on machine to disable listening to wifi radio
6. Interrupts reduce to one every few seconds and power consumption drops by 1
W due to machine staying in C3 state for longer

I believe that the ath5k driver is passing down the becon announcements
from dissociated AP's to the kernel.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
