Install of Hardy Heron 8.04 32bit breaks HP dv6000 notebooks with on board
wireless LAN cards, BCM4312. The initial install was flawless. Heron installed
restricted drivers for Broadcom and everything worked fine......for a while.

Then everything went South. The system worked for 14 hours before
breaking Wireless beyond repair. Nothing is detected any more; no blue
light on the PC wireless switch, no wireless connections in Network
Manager....not even a modem for an air-card. This is a dual-boot with
XP;... Wireless hardware is no longer even listed in XP's hardware
manager.

There is no wireless listed in "dmesg". No wireless extensions detected
is the end result. I can no longer use a wireless USB dongle or my
Sierra 875 Air card even when booting into XP.

I'm not sure if any of this can be reversed. I'm fairly sure that my
laptop is trashed from this Beta. Can anyone help out with this?
