As a starting point, I think it would be useful for those of you
experiencing this problem to do the following:
killall gnome-power-manager
gnome-power-manager --no-daemon --verbose 2>&1 gpm.log
Now leave your machine to go idle for as long as it should take the
monitor to go in to standby, then attach your log to this bug report.
