I am the original poster.
Today I could verify successfully that suspend-to-disk (hibernate) and
suspend-to-ram, both works fine again on my notebook!
Please note, I haven't been able to test the 8.10 ("Intrepid Ibex") pre-
releases yet, since this notebook is my production computer and I have
no clue about any side-effects that may occur with a parallel 8.10
installation.
Since I submitted the bug, I upgraded from one Kubuntu version to the
next, including all the Linux updates whenever offered by apt-get/Adept.
The most recent version-upgrade was to Kubuntu 8.04 LTS ("Hardy Heron").
I have checked occasionally, if hibernate + suspend works again, but
until today with negative results (same behavior as described in my
original post).
I am not 100% sure, since which udpate hibernate + suspend works
properly. However, yesterday I got the upgrade to 2.6.24-21-generic:
$ uname -a
Linux pcc-adm-7 2.6.24-21-generic #1 SMP Mon Aug 25 17:32:09 UTC 2008 i686
GNU/Linux
After the next reboot I missed the hibernate + suspend options that
usually are in the Leave (Log-off?) dialog of KDE.
I rebooted again, and here both options are back in the Log-off dialog.
First tested hibernate: OK, then suspend: OK.
Can someone else confirm this?
