Earlier versions of usb-creator used drop down boxes, but this was
deemed poor UI by a usability expert. I agree with the points he made
in his argument for this. I've copied a portion of that conversation
below.

For both lists, if you used a listbox instead, it would be easier to see
the available options, and you could use columns for various data. The
image/disc list might have columns for "Image", "OS version", and
"Size", while the device list had columns for "Device", "Capacity", and
"Free Space".
The separate "Image" and "OS version" columns would largely prevent the
confusion I had when I selected a file called intrepid-desktop-i386.iso
and it showed up as "Ubuntu 8.10". (Largely prevent the confusion, but
not entirely, because Ubuntu 8.10 hasn't been released yet!) And the
equal-width "Size" and "Free Space" columns would make it easier to see
whether a particular image would fit on a particular device.
