Hello,
I was on Ubuntu 8.04, and i upgraded to 8.10
I did that upgrade because of y graphic card, whiwh was not supported by the
kernel (apparently) and which is not with the new one ... (nvidia 9400GT)
So, the sound was ok, and one or 2 days after the upgrade, a new upgrade (I
think that's the cause of the problem), and no sound after that in totem (Error
: cannot connect to stream, etc (i don't remember exactly)).
I modified the preferences, and chose OSS as a default sound server (the only
one working).
It worked, but i had a sound really low (maximum, and the same as a laptop at
maximum (i have a 2.1 Altec kit))
After that, i don't remember exactly, but a day, no sound at all.
Oss didn't work, the sound-controller is telling me that no audio device is
found ...
I haven't /dev/dsp.
alsamixer is telling me : alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for
default: No such file or directory
I'm strying to do a "alsaconf", it detects my controller, installs it, but when
i do a alsa-utils restart, it tells me :
* Shutting down ALSA...
* warning: 'alsactl store' failed with error message 'alsactl: save_state:1510:
No soundcards found...'... [fail]
* Setting up ALSA...
* warning: 'alsactl restore' failed with error message 'alsactl:
load_state:1575: Cannot open /etc/asound.state for reading: No such file or
directory'...
Invalid card number.
I searched dor a asound.conf file ... and i found one with another alsa version
that a downloaded directly (not from the repositories) so i copied it.
But nothing new ...
So i tried to load snd-hda-intel module, and :
