I also am using a T2010 - I have Intrepid Beta installed and have just reviewed my X.org and dmesg logs - it appears the track point is still being recognised as a PS/2 style mouse not a synaptic track point.
It does work as a pointer - no button behaviour on the track point though. Buttons below keyboard work as well. If I can help further let me know. I am busy putting Intrepid through day to day usage testing and generally it is going well.
