Assigning to the correct package and setting status to fix released
since USN 377-1 fixes the reported xorg crashes.
Regarding the problems (garbled text, slowness) you observed in gedit, I
tested and was able to reproduce; also with other files than your xorg
crash log, and even with other gtk-based apps.
Since this appears to be unrelated to the xorg crash and thus outside
the scope of this bug, it's probably best to file a seperate bug report
or add your comments to an existing bug on the topic; a quick search
showed a number of relevant bugs such as bug #26439 , bug 37511 and bug
#52975 .
