Public bug reported: Intrepid development
My mute button in ubuntu used to mute the system only. To restore sound I simply pressed the volume up or down button once with the first press the sound level was unchanged. Now mute has changed to mute/unmute. I was originally in favor of this functionality but have come to think that it is less than desirable. Heres why. When I start my computer it has a nice startup sound. When I start my computer in class I don't want to here that sound. In the past I could press the mute button many times and be assured that it would be muted at the earliest time the system responds. Now if I press mute many times it will mute then unmute back and forth. This is a problem when the system is first starting up and is not entirely responsive. So in short I think that the mute button should mute only and that volume up/down buttons should unmute with their first press. I realize this is likely a point of disagreement between people. Id hope there can be a discussion about it if necessary. Possibly the best solution will be to make a wishlist item allowing people to choose their mute behavior. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- mute button changed to mute/unmute https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/287055 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
