Thank you for reporting this I was about to myself.
Im using intrepid beta with NetworkManager Applet version 0.7.0

Reproduction:
1) Right click on the NetworkManager Applet icon in the notification area and
select "Edit Connections..."
2) under the "wireless" tab select any network with a password and press the
"edit" button
3) click "allow once" or "allow always" to get to the "Editing NETWORK NAME"
window (NETWORK NAME being the name of your selected network)
4) under the "Wireless Security" tab check the "Show password" box
What shows up is not the password entered by the user but the password after it
has been modified by the computer (hex or hash or something). This alphanumeric
string is useless to most users.

'xprop | grep WM_CLASS' reports this as "nm-connection-editor"

** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Confirmed
