Ah, got sleep.sh to work, but I had to do this as root, from the Grub
menu I selected the 'recovery mode' option for the latest kernel and
dropped down to a root shell from there.  Hope it means the same thing.

Unfortunately the keyboard is still suffering the same problem.

I've attached the dmesg.txt output from this run.
