No, a search for the string 'email' in Synaptic or gnome-app-install (aka 
'Add/Remove...') still doesn't find Thunderbird, neither does a search for 
'e-mail'. Perhaps the fault doesn't lie in Thunderbird itself (or it's 
package), but it's a pretty big failing that a search for 'email' or 'e-mail' 
in the most prominent installation interface doesn't find it.
The same problem affects Evolution and Kontact, although searching for 'email' 
finds KMail.
