Public bug reported:

I want to turn off the downloading of APT Translation stuff, because,
for me, it's just extra noise in `apt-get update` output, which is
already rather verbose if you have lots of sources.

I found scattered mentions on the web and in the APT source code about
the configuration option "APT::Acquire::Translation". I attempted
setting this to "none", and when that did not work, to various other
values, including "C", and several foreign locales. At no time did any
setting I made cause apt-get to deviate from trying to download
"Translation-en_GB" stuff.

Furthermore, there's no mention of this option in apt.conf(5) or
/usr/share/doc/apt/examples/configure-index.gz.

** Affects: apt (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed

APT::Acquire::Translation is underdocumented, and doesn't seem to work, too!
