Kindly provide more information about your system such as
kernel version : uname -a
Ubuntu release version : lsb_release -a
output of dmesg command
Can you please confirm the absence of any hardware issues? Maybe get Ram check
by doing a memory test which comes alongwith the Ubuntu live cd? If memory
shows any aberrations then its not an ubuntu bug
