It seems, that my computer/graphics card only works with some versions of the nvidia driver. The latest working driver is currently 177.67. Bevor it had worked with 100.something (sorry I don't remember) With other drivers it freezes bevor it can actually write to Xorg.0.log. It probably has something to do with my system configuration, because in Windows Vista, there too only some nvidia drivers work. The same system freeze happens. I have attached the output of lspci -vvnn. I hope it helps.
