Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon
I upgrade flawlessly from Harty to Intrepid.
Then, it came a wave of actualizations (including a kernel one
-2.6.27-7-generic ) I upgraded but on the next reboot, g-s-d didn't
load.
When I tryied to use appearance, the system complained about g-s-d not
being loaded at all. I also tryed to load it manually (resulting in an
one-second normal desktop) Obviously it failed.

+ I noted that somehow the upgrade modified something in my gnome
+ configuration files. When I deleted them, It all came back to normal.
