I've had this occur at least 4 times over the last month. Twice it lead to the loss of work in progress.
I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 fully updated. It has always occurred with Firefox (last with 3.0.3) when I quickly click on the minimize button (every time however I knew I was making a bad click, e.g., on the edge of the minimize box or making a right click by mistake... that may be important). I don't know if the problem is limited to Firefox though. I use it the most so it could just be a selection effect. I cannot reproduce the crash when X restarts so maybe Firefox has to have been running for a while first? Here's the relevant line from my /var/log/syslog: Oct 24 13:48:38 aries gdm[6398]: WARNING: gdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X error - Restarting :0 I'm not too experienced debugging issues like this, so if somebody in the know gives a list of things to put here the next time I experience the crash, I can help you debug this. -- Firefox crashed randomly and taking X windows sever into console mode.. not responing. After a while using Firefox , it gets unresponsive very well and then a "quick" action caused everything fall apart. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/246942 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
