Dan L - We can't fix problems unless people report them on Launchpad and provide enough information to diagnose the problem. Talking about it on the forums doesn't help at all. There doesn't seem to be a large number of users experiencing this problem, as they haven't reported the problem in the correct place.
There could be many different causes for the symptoms you describe. Please bear in mind that just because you experience a symptom similar to somebody else, it doesn't mean you are experiencing the same bug. So far, this bug report doesn't contain enough useful information to fix the problem. As it sounds like Xorg is crashing, we really need a backtrace. A good starting point is to recreate the problem, and then attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old to this bug report. Hopefully, this will give some idea of what might be happening.
